With an all-out effort, Santa Maradona's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Miguel Transito, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Miguel Transito might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Miguel Transito ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Transito in the 26th minute of play. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Errapel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Transito, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rodolfo Cordeiro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Santa Maradona's Jonathan Errapel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 52nd minute of play. Santa Maradona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laureano Sustrai was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 85 minutes into the game, Rodolfo Cordeiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gervasio Garcia hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Patricio Costa fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jonathan Errapel, passed just outside the right post. There was no doubt that Santa Maradona were the better team. Santa Maradona's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
