The referee ignored Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's protests and gave Teun Van Heurick a yellow card for diving instead. Teun Van Heurick kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Marco Tamayo hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter-Jan Weba in the 14th minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's Taha Akyol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abram Luque in the 18th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Vlaamse Voetbal Verenigin's Dominic Colebrants dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Karel-Jan Biermans's late challenge caught a El Salvador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Karel-Jan Biermans helped the player get up and apologised. Abram Luque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Taha Akyol having to interfere. Karel-Jan Biermans made in the 29th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Natan Coekx. Bobby Gyselincx hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After having played for 31 minutes, Mateo Leguizamo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. El Salvador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mateo Leguizamo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 36th minute, Moises Fernandino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The El Salvador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Taha Akyol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Moises Fernandino in the 40th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominic Colebrants in the 52nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dominic Colebrants in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ricardo Zorita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ricardo Zorita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominic Colebrants, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After 68 minutes of play, El Salvador's Moises Fernandino made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Taha Akyol was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ricardo Zorita stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dominic Colebrants's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Taha Akyol made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Moises Fernandino sent off a good shot on target. Taha Akyol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Luque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th minute Dominic Colebrants shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Zorita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
