With a little luck, Celtistas's Rodney Marines got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Felix Montenegro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rodney Marines quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Celtistas booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Rodney Marines showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nabucodonosor Campomanes in the 57th minute of play. Rodney Marines showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Celtistas's Kiko Ferrer slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-3 after 91 minutes of play. The Celtistas supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Celtistas would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
