Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newcastle United the free kick. A throw-in in the 34th minute of the game was made by Zé Paulo Zonta with Thomas Vollmar as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The referee ignored Newcastle United's protests and gave Zé Paulo Zonta a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Zé Paulo Zonta hit a great ball. When Newcastle United's Thomas Vollmar in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Pankracy Malicki could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Newcastle United's Thomas Vollmar fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 73rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute, Newcastle United's Marian Erland ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 84th minute of the match. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Newcastle United played a much better game than Venezuela and deserved their victory. The Venezuela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
