But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pankracy Malicki in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute of the match Newcastle United got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Zé Paulo Zonta ran over to the corner to take the kick. Newcastle United's Zé Paulo Zonta was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 18th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mikolaj Jerzyk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 29 in the game by Thomas Vollmar from a close distance when the talented Dante Lacasa managed to make a qualified save. Mexico's players were relieved. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Mikolaj Jerzyk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The long shot by Julian Obuchowicz in the 46th minute really tested Dante Lacasa's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.

Mikolaj Jerzyk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 57th minute. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Kajetan Kochniarczyk hit a great ball. With a little luck, Newcastle United's Mikolaj Jerzyk got control of the ball when Lautaro Mancebo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 61 minutes of play, Mexico's Joel Gaona made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mikolaj Jerzyk was left in no man's land by his defense there! Newcastle United made a substitution. Filip Orling replaced Julian Obuchowicz. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Mikolaj Jerzyk made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 72nd minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Mikolaj Jerzyk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Vollmar didn't get a good kick on the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. 93 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Vollmar came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luca Zorita hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
