The supporters of Costa Rica booed when 东莞新世纪 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. 陈远誉 didn't get a good kick on the ball. When 陈远誉 fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored 东莞新世纪's protests and gave 陈远誉 a yellow card for diving instead. 陈远誉 hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the match, 东莞新世纪's goalkeeper 石坚斌 had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Axel Tasis. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of 陶棋岩's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. In the 25th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by 东莞新世纪's 陶西坚. But to his dismay, 陶西坚 quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 58th minute, 陈远誉 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 59 minutes into the match, 东莞新世纪's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but 石坚斌 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 60 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Eliseo Noboa. When Lautaro Puig fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The 东莞新世纪 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 石坚斌 should have stopped the shot. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when 肖誉洋 sent off a good shot on target. 东莞新世纪's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
