Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 肖誉洋, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 陶棋岩, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 石坚斌 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when 陶棋岩 came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute 肖誉洋 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When 肖誉洋, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 45 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Benito Sanz was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 肖誉洋 in the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for 肖誉洋 to strike the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when 肖誉洋 tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 54th minute, 陶棋岩 reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Benito Sanz. The goal made the score 0-1. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and 陶棋岩 tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th minute of the match, 肖誉洋 got a very nice opportunity to score, but Benito Sanz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of 东莞新世纪 booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 69th minute by 肖誉洋 got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 73rd minute, Eliseo Noboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute, 陶西坚 left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The 东莞新世纪 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Benito Sanz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 肖誉洋 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-3 in the 85 minute of play. In the 88th match minute, 东莞新世纪 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by 龙杰沙 to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by 方磊响 in the 94th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aaron Alcocer kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. 东莞新世纪 were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
