The audience was convinced that Jaime Pardo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mihály Gera was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Jacobo Nores breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute Juan Diego Tenorio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mihály Gera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raul Venegas made in the 45th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Jaime Pardo immediately put the ball in play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jaime Pardo to make the kick off. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. But to his dismay, Primitivo Escribano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 57 minutes into the match, Szentgotthárd's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Mihály Gera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juan Diego Tenorio made in the 59th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Hector Covarrubias however managed to control. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Jaime Pardo sped through Szentgotthárd's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mihály Gera. In the 64th minute, Benjámin Zádori got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 67th minute of play forced Szentgotthárd's goalkeeper Mihály Gera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjámin Zádori received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Szentgotthárd booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Pardo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 90 played minutes Szentgotthárd got a freekick which was hit by Bálint Sándor. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Pardo in the 95th minute of play forced Szentgotthárd's goalkeeper Mihály Gera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mihály Gera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 96th minute of the match. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Paraguay had played much better football throughout.
