Bálint Sándor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Bálint Sándor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Bálint Sándor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. A collision led to Szentgotthárd getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Benjámin Zádori hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig threw the ball into play from the sideline. Axel Tasis did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Mihály Gera 42 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mihály Gera saved Szentgotthárd from getting behind. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 47th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Szentgotthárd's Márton Fehér. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bálint Sándor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lautaro Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Mihály Gera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 60 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mihály Gera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 63rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Szentgotthárd's Márton Fehér. Abel Carballo made in the 66th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Aaron Alcocer however managed to control. After 70 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mihály Gera was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when Costa Rica's Axel Tasis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Aaron Alcocer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mihály Gera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Puig in the 78th minute of the match. Mihály Gera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 80th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Puig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mihály Gera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Hugo Ferrant made in the 92nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Szentgotthárd's Attila Saághy.
