The supporters of Panama booed when Samyang Ramen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christopher Bogren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Panama's Abraham Alguacil got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hans-Jürgen Nudelman in the 15th minute of play. Alex Wållander made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 20th minute. Erik Holmgren kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Abraham Alguacil sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Samyang Ramen's Alex Wållander didn't even have to move. Hans-Jürgen Nudelman took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Fabrizio Ravanelli took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. In the 39th match minute, Samyang Ramen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans-Jürgen Nudelman to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Panama getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Isidoro Sarmiento hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 51st minute of the match, Hans-Jürgen Nudelman tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marcos Cotilla saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Marcos Cotilla made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Fabrizio Ravanelli sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabrizio Ravanelli got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Siggman in the 69th minute of play. Göran Nordgren scored 0-4 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Aaron Barrios kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. In the 81st minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Wållander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Bo-Erik Apelkvist could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sam Yang in the 93rd minute of play.
