Felix Montes's late challenge caught a ÓKINJÔ FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Montes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Felix Montes hit a great ball. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alexandrino Sesimbra's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. 54 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner.
