After 5 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gernando Sarmento who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Gernando Sarmento got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 9th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eriberto Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Eriberto Queirós tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Geraldo Fernandez sent off a good shot on target. 17 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Engenheiros da Vila's Eriberto Queirós. Eriberto Queirós was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Engenheiros da Vila.
