Camilo Isauro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Camilo Isauro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Frederico came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in los nadies's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Camilo Isauro came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cenan Ergüven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Felix Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Camilo Isauro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 53 played minutes los nadies got a freekick which was hit by Emilian Crușeveanu. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Camilo Isauro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Camilo Isauro made a huge save. 68 minutes into the match, los nadies's goalkeeper Camilo Isauro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. After 72 minutes, Cenan Ergüven mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the los nadies and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when los nadies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cenan Ergüven didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 78 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Frederico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 82nd minute. In the 84th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeo Martxel, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After a defensive mix-up in los nadies's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Camilo Isauro came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emilian Crușeveanu's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emilian Crușeveanu helped the player get up and apologised. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than los nadies throughout the match.
