If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tivadar Demeter, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. A collision led to Szombathely Squirrels getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Lukas Arlikevičius hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arnold Szuper. Szombathely Squirrels's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Arnold Szuper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Szombathely Squirrels defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnold Szuper. The Szombathely Squirrels fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnold Szuper should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tivadar Demeter in the 21st minute of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lei Jian Xiong in the 23rd minute. When Bai Jun Chong came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Szombathely Squirrels fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bai Jun Chong couldn't finish the play. After 28 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Szombathely Squirrels! Arnold Szuper had in the 30thth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Zorita's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 0-2 came in the 30th minute when Daniel Zorita all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Arnold Szuper. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Lei Jian Xiong sent off a good shot on target. In the 39th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Szuper saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Szuper saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Szombathely Squirrels's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Arnold Szuper reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera was a little too slow when Lei Jian Xiong got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lukas Arlikevičius didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnold Szuper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Szombathely Squirrels's Tivadar Demeter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tivadar Demeter struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Szombathely Squirrels. Tivadar Demeter recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Szombathely Squirrels's Arnold Szuper proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Szombathely Squirrels from getting a goal against them. Arnold Szuper made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 70 minutes, Tivadar Demeter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Szombathely Squirrels's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tivadar Demeter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Szombathely Squirrels's Tamás Szentesi was substituted for Bai Jun Chong. Lukas Arlikevičius took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 74th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Arnold Szuper in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 81 played minutes Szombathely Squirrels got a freekick which was hit by Lukas Arlikevičius. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. After 83 minutes of play, Szombathely Squirrels's Lei Jian Xiong made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Arnold Szuper made a huge save. 88 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Tivadar Demeter came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnold Szuper made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tivadar Demeter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tivadar Demeter kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. Ecuador were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
