Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christodoulos Tsagris, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Alberto Tafalla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Thodoris Patsatzis made a huge save. If Luca Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joel Gaona recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniil Barlas was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute the ball was on its way in behind PAOK Irakliou's goalkeeper Thodoris Patsatzis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some careless play in the PAOK Irakliou defense, Luca Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thodoris Patsatzis. The PAOK Irakliou fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thodoris Patsatzis should have stopped the shot. Thodoris Patsatzis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 58th minute of the match. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. Giorgos Raftopoulos kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. A hard shot by Aris Stefanopoulos from long distance, 75 minutes into the match, got Dante Lacasa's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Thodoris Patsatzis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Thodoris Patsatzis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 80th minute of the match. Thodoris Patsatzis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Christodoulos Tsagris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Alberto Tafalla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thodoris Patsatzis was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. Thodoris Patsatzis came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. When the referee ended the match the Mexico players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
