But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steven Boon couldn't finish the play. Albert Lim hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfred Hitchcock to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Garry Vercauteren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albert Lim in the 54th minute of play. Brighton's Garry Vercauteren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Brighton from getting a goal against them. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Steven Boon in the 59th minute of the match. If Alfred Hitchcock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's attentive Jose Correa managed to snatch the ball when Muhammad Kang made a throw-in in the 65th minute of the game. Garry Vercauteren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfred Hitchcock in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Brighton's attack was well implemented in the 95th minute, but when Alfred Hitchcock was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick.
