Gică Popescu made in the 13th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Francesc Pla. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alejandro Verdu came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emmanuel Reyes kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. If Federico Zanetti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Bubu Denat came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bubu Denat couldn't finish the play. F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's Alejandro Verdu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 26th minute of play. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's Alejandro Verdu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 31st minute of play. Eliseo Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 40 minutes into the match, F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Alejandro Verdu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute Peru were awarded a corner. Luz Tejedor went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Luz Tejedor got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alejandro Verdu quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The throw-in from Gică Popescu in the 43rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Alonso Berganza. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. In the 51st minute of the game Emmanuel Reyes made a throw-in which Milagros Fraga played forward. F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA made a substitution. Antoni Villarroel replaced Gonzalo Boye. After a rather tough play, Peru's Luz Tejedor got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After 70 minutes F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Moises Gayoso almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's Alejandro Verdu did a great save. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Alejandro Verdu made a huge save. F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Julian Murillo scored to the left of an out of position Alejandro Verdu, making the score, 1-1. Julian Murillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alejandro Verdu having to make a save. Alejandro Verdu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marino Ramos in the 81st minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Alejandro Verdu made a huge save.
