The audience thought a goal was coming when Szymon Parzysz got free with Julio Vera in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tor Holm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 19th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Hisingstads BK's Zézinho Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 20th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Hisingstads BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Szymon Parzysz didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tor Holm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Tor Holm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Montenegro in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tor Holm prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 46th minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Charlie Kämpe tried to sneak it across the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Szymon Parzysz was the one to do the kick off. 50 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Palmquist came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Szymon Parzysz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tor Holm made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 55th minute.
