In the 16th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zhuo Chao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luz Tejedor struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Zhuo Chao didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Chinwe Venchak could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chinwe Venchak in the 33rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zhuo Chao saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Edwin Telin tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
