In the 45th minute Maximino Claris shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 48th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. If Maximino Claris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Jonathan Venegas a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ladoeiro No RuleZ FC 2010 booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Maximino Claris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Maximino Claris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elias Gama hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Maximino Claris came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Ladoeiro No RuleZ FC 2010 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maximino Claris couldn't finish the play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximino Claris in the 79th minute of play. Cássio Cortez struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal.
