Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Memphis Grizzlies's Sam Bates got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Memphis Grizzlies to leave the ground with a draw.
