In the 11th match minute, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiberiu Rotariu to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the game, Cristinel Uncheşelu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. 11 minutes into the game, one of PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Tomas Illescas shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The long shot by Lucian Şimonca in the 21st minute really tested Jonathan Ferrant's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Golo Phoenix made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 22ndth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Jonathan Ferrant would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 23 minutes into the match, Lucian Şimonca sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Jonathan Ferrant threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Lucian Şimonca this time. Golo Phoenix made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 25thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Jonathan Ferrant would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Nistor Vermeşan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Golo Phoenix could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Lucian Şimonca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dacian Ghițescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aristide Fetea.

Nistor Vermeşan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Venezuela's Alex Chicote managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tiberiu Rotariu in the 66 minute of the game. The supporters of Venezuela booed when PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucian Şimonca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Lucian Şimonca got a free kick in the 72nd minute. After 73 played minutes PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca got a freekick which was hit by Nistor Vermeşan. Tomas Illescas scored 2-1 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dacian Ghițescu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
