When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fu Han Qiang in the 70th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jon Oblak having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jon Oblak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Ruas charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorge Ruas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Andarilhos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Ruas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Andarilhos had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
