The Australian Youth Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dani Cochrane should have stopped the shot. Camilo Gaos made in the 12th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tomas Illescas. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 13th minute of play forced Australian Youth Academy's goalkeeper Dani Cochrane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jemmett Baba during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dani Cochrane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 46 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Dani Cochrane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Australian Youth Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brayden Carberry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venezuela's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
