When the match clock showed 15 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Duarte Abreu sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Duarte Abreu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Duarte Abreu slotted it home off the left post making it 3-0 in the 19th minute. Emílio van Rijswijk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emil Caspersson having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duarte Abreu in the 26th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 29th minute. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emil Caspersson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. When Peder Rang came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the SS Palestra Italia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peder Rang couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Bryngelsson in the 39th minute of play. Emil Caspersson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 41st minute of the match. 44 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Abreu came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duarte Abreu in the 47th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Duarte Abreu made the kick off in the second half.
