To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 13 minutes into the match, Roald Fredheim had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roald Fredheim was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 17th minute, Eliseo Noboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alfredo Zoido took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kjetil-André Garberg. Kjetil-André Garberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Juan Rubio made in the 41st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Alfredo Zoido immediately put the ball in play. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Kjetil-André Garberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. After having played for 47 minutes, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Axel Tasis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Roald Fredheim made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alfredo Zoido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Kjetil-André Garberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Oscar Sollid went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Alfredo Zoido's late challenge caught a Sagene IF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredo Zoido helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sagene IF booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Zoido didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Sagene IF getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Henrik Mørland hit a great ball. In the 94th minute, Henrik Mørland hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sagene IF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
