Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 陶震星 in the 59th minute of play. In the 61st minute, 毛傲远 ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-7. 柳杰常 kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers 陶震星 in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 70th minute. Benito Sanz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 71st minute, took the ball on the long shot from 陶杰剑. When Aaron Alcocer fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Aaron Alcocer a yellow card for diving instead. In the 74th minute, Aaron Alcocer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
