With an all-out effort, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Matti Erkiner, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cederique De Meur didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 37 minutes 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Theo Ljucovic in the 43rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Matti Erkiner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Matti Erkiner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

50 minutes into the match, Matti Erkiner notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Heinz-Gerd Bonin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute. 59 minutes into the match, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's goalkeeper Heinz-Gerd Bonin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. With his leg Heinz-Gerd Bonin managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin made a huge save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matti Erkiner, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Marcus Willmann was substituted for Uwe-Jens Röttger. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Heinz-Gerd Bonin to make any attempt to save it. 78 minutes into the match, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's goalkeeper Heinz-Gerd Bonin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. After 81 minutes, Werner Mazur mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 81 played minutes 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz got a freekick which was hit by Werner Mazur. 85 minutes into the match, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Ljucovic in the 90th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz.
