The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Matti Erkiner ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Heinz-Gerd Bonin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Uwe-Jens Röttger in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Camilo Gisbert thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Julio Vera, a very annoying self made goal in the 56th minute which led to 2-1. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th minute, Matti Erkiner made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Heinz-Gerd Bonin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theo Ljucovic in the 79th minute of play. In the 84th minute Marcus Willmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Willmann in the 85th minute of the match. 86 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Heinz-Gerd Bonin was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theo Ljucovic in the 88th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Egon Künkler kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Ljucovic in the 95th minute of the match. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
