Miroslaw Jajecznica was slow to take the kick. During this time Racing Club's players had a chance to rest. Marco Day made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luciano Pirro in the 10th minute of play. Cornelio Cordearo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cassius Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 15th minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Cordearo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 minutes of play, Racing Club's Luciano Pirro made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marco Day was left in no man's land by his defense there! A throw-in in the 20th minute of the game was made by Diego Bradley with Monty Rogers as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Cornelio Cordearo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes into the match, Racing Club's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Cornelio Cordearo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Cordearo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 28th minute of play. Cornelio Cordearo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute Luciano Pirro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marco Day saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 35 minutes into the match, Luciano Pirro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of USA's Marco Day. Marco Day was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Racing Club's Cornelio Cordearo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 40th minute of play. USA were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Racing Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cassius Byrne took the corner. Luciano Pirro took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marco Day. Marco Day dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Cassius Byrne who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Cornelio Cordearo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Jacob May sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Racing Club made a substitution. Samuel Nevada replaced Miroslaw Jajecznica. Racing Club made a substitution. Homer Field replaced Efmamjjasond Bronco. Through an outstanding action, after 86 minutes, Cornelio Cordearo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 87th minute USA were awarded a corner. Jenson Smith went to the cornerflag to take it. After 91 minutes Racing Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jenson Smith who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Racing Club's Homer Field got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Epifanio Txomin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Day having to interfere. The Racing Club players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
