Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Raymond Foubert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raymond Foubert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Olympique Salonais got a freekick which was hit by Tang Xi Zhen. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Raymond Foubert read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the game, Olympique Salonais's Zheng Liang Song nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zheng Liang Song in the 32nd minute of play. 36 minutes into the game, Hector Etxepare recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Hector Etxepare showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Raymond Foubert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Olympique Salonais's zone, Luis Andino stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raymond Foubert came out of the goal and Luis Andino tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 41 minutes into the game, Agustín Saelices was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olympique Salonais the free kick. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 45th minute of play forced Olympique Salonais's goalkeeper Raymond Foubert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Song Peng Xi capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Song Peng Xi really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Hector Etxepare's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hector Etxepare in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. 58 minutes into the match, Olympique Salonais's goalkeeper Raymond Foubert had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Raymond Foubert made a huge save. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olympique Salonais's Hilario Chale was substituted for Hector Etxepare. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Olympique Salonais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hilario Chale didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Zheng Liang Song came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Olympique Salonais fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zheng Liang Song couldn't finish the play. Raymond Foubert made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Raymond Foubert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Olympique Salonais's Hilario Chale in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ecuador players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Olympique Salonais.
