Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Alejo Patrido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After a defensive mix-up in O-TT-O's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alejo Patrido came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 12th minute Alberto Marcico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A nice corner shot did that Omar Thamac got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Ecuador booed when O-TT-O was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Thamac didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alejo Patrido showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. Micael Strnadel hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alejo Patrido read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Isa Günyol tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alejo Patrido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 23rd minute of the match. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. O-TT-O's Alejo Patrido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amado Gilabert. In the 32nd minute of the match O-TT-O got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Omar Thamac ran over to the corner to take the kick. O-TT-O's Omar Thamac was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Isa Günyols short, quick shot in the 36thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 40 minutes into the game, Giannis Verikios cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejo Patrido having to interfere. Alejo Patrido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 45th minute of the match. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 50 minutes, Amado Gilabert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. O-TT-O's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amado Gilabert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 52nd minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. O-TT-O's Omar Thamac got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alejo Patrido having to interfere. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Alejo Patrido made a huge save. 2-0 became the score in the 60th minute when Alberto Marcico elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Alejo Patrido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 67th minute of play. Alberto Marcico fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augustus Ingersholm, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alejo Patrido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ecuador's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because O-TT-O had won, even though Ecuador had held more of the ball.
