Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Friedrich Nietzsche in the 23rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Berto Monta got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Leo Salomon's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leo Salomon helped the player get up and apologised. Friedrich Nietzsche received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dante Lacasa came out and tried to block the shot, but Friedrich Nietzsche slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 29th minute. After 35 minutes AKÇEŞMESPOR's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Friedrich Nietzsche in the 36th minute of play. After 38 played minutes AKÇEŞMESPOR got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Frisk. In the 38th minute of the match Joel Gaona shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cláudio Taffarel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. AKÇEŞMESPOR's Leo Salomon got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Friedrich Nietzsche, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 56th minute of the match, Joel Gaona tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Cláudio Taffarel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Deivid De Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. AKÇEŞMESPOR's supporters rose to their feet, but Deivid De Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 58 played minutes AKÇEŞMESPOR got a freekick which was hit by Leo Salomon. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Cláudio Taffarel threw himself towards the right post 60 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alberto Tafalla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Deivid De Souza, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Meriç Özsen in the 67th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 69th minute Meriç Özsen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
