Vinicio Felipo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Higinio Valente kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. If Niceto Ranolfo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vinicio Felipo having to interfere. Cristian Sanchos short, quick shot in the 68thth minute got Vinicio Felipo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after EL CERVECERO F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Vinicio Felipo made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gogo Gumaro in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute of the match EL CERVECERO F.C. got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ernesto Playo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Håkan Björkman. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. If Ernesto Playo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
