In the 33rdth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Green Hell F.C.'s Edvin van der Sar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 34 minutes Green Hell F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Vieri in the 35th minute of play. 38 minutes into the match, Christian Vieri had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christian Vieri was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Edvin van der Sar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Grigoris Grigoriadis was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 90th minute Christian Vieri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rafael Gallo got free with Edvin van der Sar in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edvin van der Sar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 95th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Eliseo Mina had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Edvin van der Sar. Green Hell F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eliseo Mina was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
