Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Modesto Oakley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 17th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Lilywhites was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frodo Di Marco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cosimo Michelini charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cosimo Michelini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cosimo Michelini hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Lilywhites's Modesto Oakley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 40th minute of play. When Lilywhites's Amerigo Egger in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Modesto Oakley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.

Modesto Oakley made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 51st minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Lupo in the 85th minute of play. Modesto Oakley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute of the match. 89 minutes into the match, Lilywhites's goalkeeper Modesto Oakley had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. 94 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Amerigo Egger came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lilywhites fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
