Lisandro Quentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. Ingar Myklebust took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Gisbert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hüsmen Ünlem in the 25th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute Galatasaray A.Ş. were awarded a corner. Ciccio Graziani went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Galatasaray A.Ş.'s Ciccio Graziani to fire away a dangerous shot which Joaquin Gayoso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The Uruguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3.
