The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 26th minute of the game. One of Revenge:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Venezuela:s goal. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Gijs ter Averst when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gijs ter Averst having to make a save. 37 minutes into the match, Revenge's goalkeeper Gijs ter Averst had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomas Illescas. Serge Spiljard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. When Revenge's Tim Daelemans in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
