The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 4th minute of play forced C.A.JORGOVAN's goalkeeper Eustacio Beliran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eustacio Beliran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. After 9 minutes, Agustín Saelices mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the C.A.JORGOVAN players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Miguel Lope kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Honesto in the 18th minute of play. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eustacio Beliran having to interfere. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A.JORGOVAN's goalkeeper Eustacio Beliran, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Miguel Lope got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of C.A.JORGOVAN booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. 35 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eustacio Beliran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of play forced C.A.JORGOVAN's goalkeeper Eustacio Beliran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 43rd minute, Isidoro Honesto ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After a rather tough play, C.A.JORGOVAN's Gonzalo Hoya got a free kick in the 46th minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Eustacio Beliran tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Hoya in the 54th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Lope, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. After having played for 69 minutes, Miguel Lope managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A.JORGOVAN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Lope was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. C.A.JORGOVAN made a substitution. Godfredo Mikeldi replaced Valdemar Velasco. Eustacio Beliran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute. When Per-Åke Johansson came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the C.A.JORGOVAN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Per-Åke Johansson couldn't finish the play. Gervasio Bermund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With 93 minutes on the clock, Avelino Canal commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 93 minutes into the game, one of C.A.JORGOVAN:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. C.A.JORGOVAN's Eustacio Beliran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to save C.A.JORGOVAN from getting a goal against them. C.A.JORGOVAN succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
