The supporters of Honduras booed when Guará FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lachezar Dzhevov didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Honduras getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Valentín Carvallo hit a great ball. If Moises Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Honduras's Lautaro Navarro got control of the ball when Tiago Gabriel Vieira tried to sneak it across the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Sebastian Villa hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Guará FC's zone, Moises Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Nascimento came out of the goal and Moises Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 56th match minute, Honduras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteban Carvallo to maneuver through the defense. Guará FC's Lachezar Dzhevov got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelsinho Nascimento saved Guará FC from getting behind. Lautaro Navarro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldão Paulista in the 69th minute of play. Henrique Ribeiro's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Henrique Ribeiro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th match minute, Guará FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henrique Ribeiro to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the match, Guará FC's goalkeeper Nelsinho Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Espiga. In the 89th minute Ronaldão Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lautaro Navarro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zé Pedro Baiano hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. In the 93rd minute, Harold Willson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Guará FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
