Celtic de Sarda's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Macos Graciani advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-1 in the 18th minute. Rick Brearley stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lautaro Mancebo's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 26th minute of play forced Celtic de Sarda's goalkeeper Rick Brearley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th match minute, Celtic de Sarda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bäşir Abudova to maneuver through the defense. Kauã Lopes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dante Lacasa firmly grabbed it by the left post. Rick Brearley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 44th minute of the match. After 47 minutes, Henrik Etoo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Celtic de Sarda and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Gaona to strike the kick off in the second half. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niklas Pettersson in the 51st minute of the match. Facundo Cadaval received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Rick Brearley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 55 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Stamnes came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Austin Mills, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 69 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rick Brearley. Alberto Tafalla showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. Celtic de Sarda made a substitution. Alex Stead replaced Austin Mills. In the 76th minute, Lautaro Mancebo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. Celtic de Sarda's Rick Brearley proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Celtic de Sarda from getting a goal against them. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rick Brearley came out and tried to block the shot, but Alberto Tafalla slotted it home off the left post making it 3-4 in the 84th minute. When Mexico's Luca Zorita in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Celtic de Sarda's goalie prevented a goal. A nice corner shot did that Luca Rouco got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rick Brearley quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 94th match minute, Celtic de Sarda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Stead to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute, Joel Gaona made a precise shot to the right of Rick Brearley. Celtic de Sarda's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-5. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
