The crowd rose to their feet as Real Club Celta de Vigo's Renato Tapia slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 4-1 after 31 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play forced Real Club Celta de Vigo's goalkeeper Pepe Toxeiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Renato Tapia. Renato Tapia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
