The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Constantin Deșliu came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Cristian Sancho could shoot a difficult shot in the 85th minute, which Marian Văduvescu however easily saved by the left post. Marian Văduvescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. The audience was convinced that Constantin Deșliu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. The FC Steaua Pildesti players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
