Lucílio Figueiras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 8th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 17 played minutes, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting Clube de Gaya reached it. After 18 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Mina. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eloy Hats in the 24th minute of play. When Sporting Clube de Gaya's Lucílio Figueiras in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Venezuela's goalie prevented a goal. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Renato Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 minutes, Eloy Hats mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting Clube de Gaya and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Eloy Hats got a free kick in the 37th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Fredy Montero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredy Montero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 47th minute, Lucílio Figueiras reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Lucílio Figueiras to strike the kick off in the second half. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Mendes in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 58th minute. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. After 65 played minutes Sporting Clube de Gaya got a freekick which was hit by Lucílio Figueiras. Renato Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 78th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Renato Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ahmet Koralp Tükel hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Fredy Montero scored 3-0 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 87th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Fredy Montero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Fredy Montero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 92 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Lucílio Figueiras came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sporting Clube de Gaya's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
