Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sulo Montaña, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sulo Montaña got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the game, Santino Seco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Colombia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LOI the free kick. George Buturugã showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pascual Carballar, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sulo Montaña. Colombia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Sulo Montaña scored to the left of an out of position Pedro Manzanares, making the score, 1-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The LOI fans cheered their team off the field, for while Colombia had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
