In the 5th minute of the match Axel Tasis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vrasidas Panaretos skillfully saved the ball. Harry Engman might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Harry Engman ran back to his position shaking his head. 17 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Shao Ting Xing came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Shao Ting Xing scored 2-0 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Shao Ting Xing recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Shao Ting Xing dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 3-0. Gottfrid Larsson hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Harry Engman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. 58 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Shao Ting Xing came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gris Maffian's goalkeeper Vrasidas Panaretos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 95 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Ferrant. Gris Maffian made a substitution. Bianco Sammartano replaced Carl Giöck. The supporters of Gris Maffian booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gris Maffian walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
