If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 7 minutes Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera managed, with a little bit of luck, save Paolo Rossi's penalty, on his right side after a tricky shot. 7 minutes into the match, Paolo Rossi notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Arsenal F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artem Savin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andrey Dvoryankin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paolo Rossi got free with Julio Vera in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arsenal F.C.'s Andrey Dvoryankin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play forced Arsenal F.C.'s goalkeeper Andrey Dvoryankin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andrey Dvoryankin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute of play. Arsenal F.C.'s Andrey Dvoryankin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 28th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Arsenal F.C.'s Paolo Rossi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute Arsenal F.C. were awarded a corner. Artem Savin went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paolo Rossi in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. If Paolo Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. In the 51st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Andino to maneuver through the defense. Arsenal F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Artem Savin in the 58th minute. 63 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Andrey Dvoryankin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paolo Rossi in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Daniil Fomin put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stanislav Sharapov, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 75th minute Arsenal F.C. were awarded a corner. Artem Savin went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Trond Bom heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stanislav Sharapov's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Daniel Zorita succeeded in the game's 92nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-3.
