When the match had been going on for 10 minutes, Varennes's Maurice Odonnell got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Julio Vera. In the 14th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Boone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Seth Luke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Seth Luke took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilberto Boone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play. After 23 minutes Varennes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Gilberto Boone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of the match. The supporters of Varennes booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Goudreau in the 33rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donovan Nash hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Erwin Gay kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Donovan Nash hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. In the 46th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilberto Boone showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maurice Odonnell made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gilberto Boone. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Seth Luke in the 56th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Varennes's Hong Mosher was substituted for Ward Houde. Varennes's Titus Pineda was substituted for Bernardo Goudreau. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 69th minute of play forced Varennes's goalkeeper Gilberto Boone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilberto Boone narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Varennes's Gilberto Boone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 74th minute of play. Gilberto Boone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Gilberto Boone when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 94th minute, Quincy Loyd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
