When Guillermo Mariano fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Guillermo Mariano a yellow card for diving instead. 10 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's Kai Østbye shot a high long ball. Venezuela's goalkeeper was lucky when the ball hit the right post and out. The Brufoss IL fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when Brufoss IL's Emanuel Markham looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 23rd minute, Tomas Illescas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brufoss IL's Borys Witek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 29th minute of play. Borys Witek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. Brufoss IL's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Jonathan Venegas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Brufoss IL's Borys Witek did a great save. After 35 minutes Brufoss IL's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. In the 37th minute, Kent Remme reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. The goal made the score 2-2. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Emanuel Markham tried to sneak it across the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Jakob Lode came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 44 minutes into the match, Emanuel Markham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emanuel Markham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-2 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. When the match clock showed 53 minutes, the score became 4-2 when Emanuel Markham sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Markham in the 58th minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Borys Witek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Brufoss IL's Are Høiby was substituted for Kevin Strømsnes. Are Høiby's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Are Høiby helped the player get up and apologised. After 75 played minutes Brufoss IL got a freekick which was hit by Are Høiby. 77 minutes into the match, Kai Østbye notched a goal, 5-3, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emanuel Markham in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kent Remme in the 85th minute of play.
