Joaquin Prats hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Luís Paulo de Moraes didn't quite understand what happened when in the 25 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind FURIOZA's goalkeeper Olgierd Petrasz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Moreno Torricelli made in the 32nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Luís Paulo de Moraes immediately put the ball in play. After a defensive mix-up in FURIOZA's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olgierd Petrasz came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes in the game Moreno Torricelli did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Luís Paulo de Moraes. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olgierd Petrasz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Olgierd Petrasz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to FURIOZA getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Moreno Torricelli hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Wieslaw Kilar came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Julian Murillo made a kick off. In the 74th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olgierd Petrasz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Paulo de Moraes in the 85th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Milagros Fraga in the 87th minute of play forced FURIOZA's goalkeeper Olgierd Petrasz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
